Genesis 1:26 – And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

One of the most intriguing things about Jesus Christ is that He prayed, going to God for guidance, knowledge, encouragement, instruction, and strength. One of my mottos is that if Jesus Christ, the Son of God who is God, prayed and fasted, how much more should we do also! But still, it begs the question: why? If Jesus Christ is God, why did He pray? Being God, did He not have the answer already? Why did Christ commune with the Father and the Holy Spirit in what Pastor John McArthur called “interdeity communication” in the book “12 Ordinary Men” ? Being God, should not He have had all that He needed? Many unbelievers have seized upon the fact that Christ prayed to deny His deity; to claim that there is no Holy Trinity and/or that Christ was merely a prophet or philosopher. Although John eloquently, brilliantly, and spiritually describes the Holy Trinity in his gospel, many are still unconvinced, claiming that John was speaking metaphorically, or that his gospel was altered or altogether written by early first century Christians.

Well Believers, be not dismayed or allow your faith to be diminished, especially during these evil times. To shine light on Jesus Christ praying, I will also provide another example of how the old covenant laid out in the Old Testament is confirmed, not destroyed, by the new covenant given in the New Testament; proving that they are one and the same, and give yet another reason why Christians should thoroughly investigate Judaism rather than misinterpret Paul and discard it; why the Old Testament has equal value to the New rather than being mere history or foundation. Let all who have knowledge or discernment hear: the first explicit mention of the Holy Trinity is in Genesis! Take a look at the theme verse at the top. Further, consider Genesis 3:22 – “And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever. Who was God speaking to? Who is this “us”?

Many have presumed that God was speaking to His angels! Nay, for that would contradict Psalm 8:5 – “For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.” Some have asserted that Psalm 8:5 was poorly translated. Fine, but what of Hebrews 2:7 – “Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands” and Hebrews 2:9 – “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man”? All those references cannot be wrong, especially when you consider that Psalm 8 was written by David in Hebrew but Hebrews 2 was written by Paul in Greek. How Hebrews 2:9 talks about how JESUS CHRIST, the Son of God and God Himself, became a little lower than angels when He came to earth as The Son of Man, eliminates all doubt. Man was made in the image of God, not in the image of angels. Man is not a LITTLE LOWER than God, but infinitely lower, and for that matter so are the angels. Satan found out just how much lower the angels are than God when he was cast out! So no, God incontrovertibly was not talking with angels.

So then, who was God speaking with? Who was this “us” that Adam could have eaten from the Tree of Life and lived forever as? For this, go back to Genesis 1:26a – “And God said, Let us make man in our image”! Cross reference John’s words about Jesus Christ in John 1:3 – “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” This can only mean that when God was speaking CONCERNING Adam rather than TO Adam, He was talking to Himself! “Us” was God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit! God wanted creation to be made, He spoke The Word to make Creation which activated and is Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit is how and by whom creation and all things were made! “Us” is the Holy Trinity!

So realize that God is “us”, a Holy Trinity, and that we are made in the image of “us.” We are not made in the image of the God the Father alone, but we are made in the image of The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. How so? We exist in three states: body, soul, and spirit. God is a spirit, and our spirits will be with God if we accept His Son or else be destroyed in the lake of fire. Further, when we accept Christ, the Holy Spirit comes and cleanses and indwells our spirits. That is why no one who has truly accepted Christ can be “possessed” by an evil spirit. An evil spirit cannot live in your spirit if you have the Holy Spirit by salvation through Christ, because the Holy Spirit has ownership of your spirit and takes it all up … there is no room there. Further, two cannot walk together save they agree, and the Holy Spirit is not in agreement with anything of Satan or otherwise evil. Finally, the Holy Spirit of God is stronger than any demon spirit (remember, the angels are lower than and subject to God and His Power, including demons, and it is through the Holy Spirit of God in the Name of Jesus Christ that demon spirits are subject to us) and will overcome any demon that tries to invade the spirit of a true Believer. So demons cannot possess Believers in the spirit, they can only influence and oppress believers in the mind and in the body.

Further, we also have souls, which are wills, thoughts, minds, desires, and emotions. Thus, our soul is our word, and it is to us what Jesus Christ, the Word of God, is to the Father. God is God, and Jesus Christ is what God thinks or wants. Finally, you have the body. Let us say that your will or desire is to eat a sandwich. It is your physical body that actually walks to the kitchen, picks up the sandwich, and eats it. It is your physical body that actually performs your will, and hence is equivalent of the Holy Spirit, which enacts what the Father desires. When Jesus Christ came to earth as the Son of Man, He actually was a fusion of God’s Will and man’s body, and recall again that man’s body correlates to the Holy Spirit in the image of God. Therefore, Christ had the Holy Spirit without measure.

When you realize Christ’s awesome power and miracles, the knowledge that we are in the image of God in that we too have trinities should make you realize that we have a lot of power. Indeed, Christ Himself said that we would do what He did and more, and this is a man about whom was said that if all the things that He did were written down the world could not contain all the books! There is a caveat though. God gave us great power; indeed the power to subdue the earth (recall Genesis 1:26) and exceedingly more power in the spirit realm. We have three choices. We can A) sit on that power and not use it and be as the wicked servant who buried his talent in the sand. Or we can B) use our power for evil, which we will inevitably do if we do not obey God. (Using our power for evil is the sin of witchcraft.) Or C) we can use our power to serve God; indeed to give our power over to Him so that He can use it as He sees fit, which will be to do great things and also in the war between good (God and all who serve Him) and evil (Satan and his followers). There is no such thing as being a conscientious objector or sitting it out; you MUST be a soldier in God’s Army, and trust God that His side will prevail and that you and your house will not only be protected but blessed and highly favored in Heaven and on earth!

That is why Satan comes after you with all that he has. Satan desires either to use the power that God has given you against God, and if he fails to do that he will settle for filling you with so much fear, doubt, selfishness, vanity, and other corruptions and perversions that you will not allow God to use you to fight God’s battles. Why? Because if God uses you to fight His battles, not only will you be favored and blessed – which Satan hates – but Satan and all that is his will be exposed for the powerless frauds that they are and defeated every single time – which Satan really hates! Even many of those who do decide that they are going to fight for God often allow themselves to be ensnared by vanity, hard – heartedness, false doctrine, false religion, and false teaching and try to go off and fight Satan of their own accord. That never works; such people fight in the flesh on Satan’s turf and lose every time. The way to fight and win is to let God use you to fight the battle. Most of the time, especially if you obey God’s Word (Jesus Christ!) and pray without ceasing and be a person of upright countenance and conversation, God will be using your immense power to fight battles without your even knowing it. I would suppose that most sincere Believers are used by God directly. But God wants a bit more: at times He wants us to be direct willing participants, at His direction of course. Remember, God is the General and we are but soldiers in His Army! At His direction, God wants us to use the power that has already been given to us through His Word (Jesus Christ) and by the Holy Spirit to rebuke, bind, and cast out all manners and forms of devils. God wants people who are willing to go up against Babylon directly, including Satan himself! I am not just talking about warring in the Name of Jesus Christ at the direction of God against demons that afflict individuals or even families. You have powers and principalities that afflict entire nations with violence, sexual immorality, hunger, starvation, disease, poverty, abomination, apathy, faithlessness, vanity, selfishness, greed, etc. God wants His Believers to bind and rebuke even those powers, principalities, and prince demons in the Name of Jesus Christ, and particularly to provide a spiritual covering for the Body of Christ and for innocents, especially children.

God did not make you in His Image to be concerned about the environment and human rights, or to just be a good kind decent person who does good works and does not harm anyone. Cannot the heathen, do not the heathen do the same? God made you in His Image to do His Will, and it is the job of every believer to do God’s Will by allowing God to use us to fight! There is no reason to be afraid, hesitant, or to shrink back! Fear is of the enemy! Have faith. God is fighting the battles, and the battle is already won! Just make sure that when you fight for God, it is at the direction of God only and that you are fighting in the spirit, not in the flesh. But fight you must. God made you in His Image to fight, and what is more He made you in His image to prevail.

Father God in the Name of Jesus Christ, thank you for making me in your image and for giving me all power over the enemy in the Name of Jesus Christ. Please Lord, may I not be faithless, fearful, or stubborn and refuse to allow You to use me to fight for you and to do whatever you deem fit, for all that you deem fit is good. And Lord, may I not go off on my own accord but rather remain under Your direction and protection. I know Lord that so long as I love you and obey you and keep my faith in you that you will never betray me, that you will never abandon me, and that you will never fail me or let me down, and for that I thank you; I thank you for being God, my God, the One True God. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Deliverance:The demons that operate in this area are fear, false religion, false doctrine, false teaching, ignorance, vanity, and stubbornness. They especially attack the Body of Christ in order to limit the spiritual damage and destruction that Babylon suffers. But we all now thanks to Jesus Christ – God’s Word – that Babylon will not only suffer and be damaged but be totally destroyed, Hallelujiah and Glory to God in the Highest in the Name of Jesus Christ! Believers must go into spiritual intercession and warfare in the Name of Jesus Christ for the Body of Christ so that God will have more warriors, and in particular more direct active warriors. Please read the Basic Spiritual Warfare guide to learn more about how to go against these demons to help set captives free and win battles in the name of your God through the power, authority, and victory given to you by his Son Jesus Christ and by his blood shed for you!
